We provide several options for students who need to improve on weak organizational and study skills or poor executive functioning skills. The underlying strategy is for students to use their own homework to develop time management strategies that work for them. Depending on the learning style of your student, we offer the following options:
Study Skills & Organization Class
This course is designed to review many strategies that will help students become more organizated, apply time management strategies, and the ability to apply and develop their own personal study plan. Strategies covered include annotating, previewing, summarizing, memorizing techniques, note-taking, and speed reading.
Study Club
Our Study Club is a proctored study hall for four to eight students, with emphasis on organizational skills and time management. Students begin by using their planner or accessing their school website to determine their homework for the week and then applying time management techniques to prioritize work, breaking down assignments and then completing assignments according to this self-made plan. Students are guided through their homework and the studying process, especially how to be productive when there is no specific assignment. Under tutor guidance, students also learn how to effectively review school assignments and notes to prepare for exams and discussions.
Private Tutoring
Our private tutoring sessions may be tailored to emphasize organizational coaching, focusing on the student's particular issues by using homework assignments to help determine which strategies work best for the student. Private organizational coaching follows the same structure as Study Club, only on an individualized level. Students begin by using their planner or accessing their school website to determine their homework for the week and then applying time management techniques to prioritize work, breaking down assignments and then completing them according to this self-made plan. Students are guided through their homework and the studying process, especially how do be productive when there is no specific assignment. Under private tutor guidance, students also learn how to effectively review school assignments and notes to prepare for exams and discussions.
We make our services available at the Center,
in many local private schools and via Skype.
