PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL TESTING

Holly A. Zanville, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist in both Maryland and Virginia, conducts the psycho-educational testing for Jill Broder’s Educational Group.  Dr. Zanville received her Ph.D. from George Mason University in 2009 and her B.A. in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002.  Dr. Zanville currently supervises graduate students at George Mason for their assessment practica.  She also provides therapy to adults, with a specialty in anxiety, at her private practice in Bethesda, MD.

A formal evaluation can be critical to understanding your student’s abilities. A psycho-educational assessment can help identify a student's strengths and weaknesses, learning style, and cognitive potential. Plus, these types of assessments allow for analysis of many common diagnoses associated with problems in school, such as learning disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and anxiety.

We use the most current and up-to-date tests to determine each student’s abilities, with scores based upon normed data. These include, but are not limited to, intelligence tests, achievement tests, reading comprehension tests, writing assessments, tests of auditory processing, tests of phonological processing, and self-administered questionnaires regarding general psychological functioning, attention, and executive functioning. We also collect information from parents, teachers, and other relevant individuals in the examinees life.

Testing typically takes two to three sessions of two to three hours to complete. Once the testing is complete, we provide a written report that explains background and observations, presents the actual test scores, and provides an interpretation of the results as well as recommendations to ensure that the testing results are being addressed to the fullest.

Please keep in mind that if you apply for extended time on the SAT or ACT, your student must complete a full psycho-educational evaluation within two years of the application.

While we do not participate directly with any insurance providers, we are happy to provide a receipt to submit for reimbursement.  Please contact our office to learn more about our fees.
